Review by Joe Addalia
It may have been in the unseasonable 40’s outside the Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville Tuesday evening but inside it was like a smoking HOT Florida Summer Day!

Most reviewers start from the top of the set-list, but I am going straight to the first song of the encore, Sunshine of Your Love.  The Cream rose to the top with the power trio of Clapton-Weeks-Jordan.  I was left standing in awe at the raw power and full sound of this song.  The rest of the band members were at their finest as well.  Bramhall II’s superb accompaniment to Eric showed how tight this band actually is and demonstrated it song after song, solo after solo all evening.

I enjoyed the start of the show to the very last note, of “High Time We Went”, the Joe Cocker anthem.  The set-list was similar to others on the tour and we did get “Layla” my favorite whether plugged-in or a sit-down shuffle, EC never disappoints.

Other highlights were Chris Stainton’s bright and brilliant keys were electrified by the unmistakable riff of the classic “Cocaine”, which was outstanding and true to the Slowhand Track 1 Side 1 original.

The 2-hour show included two more Slowhand hits “Lay Down Sally” and “Wonderful Tonight” in the sit-down portion and a Robert Johnson set that was pure Clapton.

Eric Clapton continued his tour with a stop in Jacksonville FL last night and raised the roof. The Wallflowers took the stage at 7:30 and got the audience warmed up. Jakob Dylan and his band are definitely coming into their own. After a 45 minute set and a 20 minute equipment change, Eric and company took to stage to a roaring welcome. HIs set list was the same as the one he did in Dallas TX. After having 2 days off, Eric seemed in a good mood smiling alot and laughing with Doyle and Willie . The band was tight and every song flowed with ease.  On the sit down session, Eric showed why he’s the best, especially on the song Driftin…the crowd was on their feet and also when they did Little Queen of spades. Eric was burning up the strings and Chris Stanton’s solo had people cheering for more. As always time went to fast..this is a tour not to be missed if you can help it.

Where’s Eric!
