Eric kicked off his final shows in Florida just as he did in his previous shows, with a rousing version of Going Down Slow but really hit his stride four songs in with Old Love which has always been a real favorite of mine. I have to agree with many of the other reviewers who have commented on Eric’s playing as the only guitarist; he seems to step it up a notch when he doesn’t have Doyle or Andy in the wings. His solo on Old Love just soared. The standing ovation at the conclusion of I Shot The Sheriff was indication, not only of another outstanding solo, but also that Eric still knows how to please his fans. I was thrilled to hear Layla back in the set list but when he skipped Little Queen of Spades my heart sank. Thankfully, he had just mixed things up and hit Wonderful Tonight after Badge, which was awesome by the way, and then hit Before You Accuse Me. Little Queen came next and Eric was in full wail mode. He’s still playing with such passion that I can’t imagine him slowing down anytime soon. Weeks and Gadd laid down a steady beat and Chris Stainton was his usual stellar self. What a terrific show and I’m looking forward to Crossroads!

Its no surprise that Clapton pleased the crowd last night in Sunrise Florida. What was a sweet addition was Roger Daltrey’s set. I really enjoyed Roger’s ribbing about being the opening act. Thought it would have been cool if they had played one or two together, but I am ever wanting more.

The blues ruled last night and I was loving it. I think I was the most enthusiastic fan last night standing and dancing the whole time. It was the standard line up from the previous shows: Going Down Slow, Key to the Highway, Tell the truth (which I loved! thought that Michelle John and Sharon White did an outstanding job), Old Love, I shot the Sheriff (I was wearing my Jamaican dress), Driftin Blues, Nobody Knows you When You’re down and Out, Running on Faith (one of my all time favorites), Layla, I’ve got a Rock N Roll Heart, Badge, Little Queen of Spades, Before you Accuse Me, Wonderful Tonight, Cocaine, and Crossroads. We had the best handicap seating available (my husband suffered a spinal cord injury 18 years ago and is paralyzed from the shoulders down), which are not that great.  We want to see the last show tomorrow night in Orlando, but the venue says they don’t have any handicap seats available. 

Clapton does an excellent job doing what he does best. Playing the guitar! He was the only one and he didn’t need any help. It was amazing to see him play like it was nothing. The man is turning 65 on March 30th! Happy Birthday Eric! Hope to see you in June!

I’ve been a blues and Eric Clapton fan for a long time but until last night had not managed to hear him live. Well, I was very happy to find that his performance was beyond my expectations. Don’t know how it compares to his past shows, but for me it was outstanding. What Eric lacked in show length (1 hr, 35 min including 1 encore song) he more than made up for in quality. I am definitely looking forward to my next opportunity to hear him perform….got me thinking about Crossroads.

Terrific. Roger Daltrey blew the doors off the place and Eric kept them off! The build up from Daltrey to then have Eric take over in a no-nonsense, working mans’ attack provoked the seated crowd to pull out their air guitars and their invisible drum sets in an effort to wail along with the stellar band. And, I don’t know how, but Slowhand is getting better. He threw layers of riffs in-between riffs that were already set in place. The slowed-down, acoustic version of Layla, for example, has changed, weakening the strong "Unplugged" version. I do hope that someday there is a DVD of this show.

The show was fantastic. Actually both shows were. I’m speaking about Roger Daltrey who I thought was pretty good and way better than during the Superbowl. BTW – It isn’t fair to any guitarist to have to play Who songs and not be compared to Pete Townshend (even if it’s his brother Simon.) Overall, they had great energy and I thought for an opening act, were pretty darn good.

EC and his band ROCKED and I was very pleasantly surprised. At age 65 he can still DO IT! I loved hearing Derek and the Dominos songs…it sounded as if we were all 30 years younger. I have seen so many concerts in my time but have never, ever seen a man play guitar as incredible as Eric Clapton. He makes those notes fly off that fret board like no other…WOW!!

But I must say, I was disappointed at the short length of the show and quite frankly only one encore really left us wanting for more. If we got a few more songs (or at least a reward with another encore song for screaming after the one & only encore!) I would have been ecstatic, but that wasn’t to be. Still a great show overall.

Well The master was in great form last night at the Bank Atlantic Center in So. Florida. His playing was so spot on and clean. I could have listened all night to his playing. The whole band were great. Every concert of Eric’s that I have been to since the Cream reunion concert he seems to be playing with such inspiration and emotion which is just thrilling to watch. I am 61 and have been a fan for practically his entire career I will cherish every one of his concerts. I can’t choose any favorites from the set list the whole program was great!

Last night was my first Clapton concert. Even though I have always loved his music, I never had the chance to go to one of his shows. Let me start off by stating that the show is in my top ten list of all times. Eric’s show was spectacular. it surprised me that he was the only guitarist on the band. If you were there, you would’ve thought that there were more guitars, but he played by himself. His solos were very powerful and very very good. The acoustic set was incredible, which highlight song was, of course, Layla. I really enjoyed the solos on the keyboards. Eric mixed slow songs and faster songs to make a perfect mix of his all-time best songs. Cocaine and Crossroads sounded better than their album versions. One thing that I aways look for at a show is the organization, this show was very well organized. The staff was friendly and helpful. Kudos for them. If you haven’t gone to a Clapton show, you should totally consider it; you won’t be disappointed.

Eric Clapton, on his quick North American tour with Roger Daltrey as an opening act! Outstanding! That should say everything but it does not begin to describe the impact of this show. This was lucky #13 for me seeing Eric, you hear about people that have seen him 40 or 50 times but I wonder? The show started as if it was "The Who" opening, that’s how good Roger Daltrey and his band are! Eric, as usual, just walks out and starts his show, "Going Down Slow", a most appropriate number to begin with since his fans, most of us anyway, look like we are doing just that! He seems to be the exception. This was the first time I have seen him on stage without a rhythm backup guitarist, he states that he wants to challenge himself in the tour programme and he does exactly that and he excels! I keep expecting to see him slowing down but he just keeps getting better, faster and with this band, very tight! This was a greatest hits show, great repertoire but people will say it’s too short of a show, he din’t play "Tears in Heaven", ask yourself if after you went through what he had to endure, would you play a song that reminded you of a horrible event in your life at each show? Roger played an hour and EC played for 90 minutes of non-stop jamming. EC will be 65 at month’s end, I’m 48 and wish I had his energy. He looked a little tired but how could he not be? Nevertheless, he was on-point, there were riffs and licks I had never heard and played his heart out as did his outstanding band! It’s great to have Steve Gadd back on drums but EC showed he can still do the solo guitar thing, a la "CREAM" and do it better than any other! As long as he plays, I’m there! This man has and will always be an inspiration to me, specially after what he has had to overcome! God Bless him and may he play for a long, long time!
