Staples center Aug. 17th & 18th, Having seen Eric Clapton in concert since 1967, and never missing a tour since then this was no exception. I had to go both nights cause one never knows what to expect with him, needless to say i was not disappointed either night. He walked out completely relaxed, smiling, sat down and played Key to the Highway, from then on it was smooth sailing. The set list was pretty musch the same as it has been on the later part of the tour except he add Badge to both shows and instead of stormy monday, chose Have you ever loved a Woman, His notes rang loud and clear through the arena and everyone applauded, cheered, and screamed throughout the show. No one was disapponted, i sat next to a couple of people who drove up from San Diego just to see him and they left with smiles on their faces. On the Friday show Eric had a "senior moment", when he forgot the lyrics to the second verse of MY Fathers Eyes, He hummed his way through until he got to the chorus, then found himself again and carried on, he laughed about and just carried on as if it to say "oh well, mistakes happen" for you guitar tech he used a two tone sunburst strat friday, which i dubbed brownie2, but which is clapton signature strat as i saw the writting on the headstock, perhaps this is a new version coming out later, Sat, he stuck to the multicolored strat, all in all well worth the 2 hours plus each night to sit and watch him play, i just wished he had done a few more tunes off of Reptile, like Come Back Baby or Ain’t gonna stand for it, oh well still got what i needed, by the way both shows were taped for what maybe a dvd/video release, in the future. The sad part was thinking how this may be his last tour one can only hope perhaps he may reconsider and shorter tours in the future, thanks again Eric for a great night
