Clapton Takes Part In Scotty Moore Tribute At Abbey Road Studios

On 2 and 3 December 2004, a concert-style tribute to guitarist Scotty Moore was filmed at London's famed Abbey Road Studios. Moore is considered one of the true innovators of early rock guitar. In 1954, he was working at Sun Studios in Memphis, Tennessee when studio owner Sam Phillips auditioned Elvis Presley. The audition yielded Elvis' first single, "That’s Alright Mama" and Moore began his 14 year association with Presley playing on some of the King's greatest hits of the 1950s and early 1960s.

Cream Reunion: It’s Official!

After weeks of speculation it was announced today by Eric Clapton that legendary 60s supergroup Cream will reunite for 4 shows at London's Royal Albert Hall. The venue was the scene of the trio's last appearance in 1968. Concert appearances have been scheduled for May 2005. Information regarding ticket sales has not yet been made public. These are the only Cream concerts scheduled. Details will be posted here on whereseric.com as they become available.

Eric Clapton Tapes Jools Holland Hootenanny New Year’s Eve Special

Eric Clapton will be a guest on the 12th annual Jools Holland Hootenany television show, which will air on New Year's Eve. The show was recorded at the BBC studios on 16 December 2004 before a live audience. Eric performed "Stop Breakin’ Down Blues" and a blistering version of "Little Queen Of Spades" from his recent Robert Johnson album. His backing band for the evening was the Jools Holland Rhythm and Blues Orchestra.

The Recording Academy (US) announced its nominations for the 47th Annual Grammy Awards on 7 December 2004. Eric earned two nominations. His most recent CD, "Me and Mr. Johnson" was nominated for "Best Traditional Blues Album". He was also nominated with Paul McCartney for "Something" for the "Best Pop Collaboration With Vocals" award.

Cream Reunion Rumours

The rumoured news of a possible Cream reunion by Eric Clapton, Ginger Baker and Jack Bruce initially appeared on 9 November 2004 in London's Daily Mail Newspaper. Billboard, a music publication in the US carried the story later that day and sent it out via its wire service partner, Reuters. Billboard qualified their story with "a spokesperson for Eric Clapton had no comment." In the hours following these initial reports, numerous other news outlets around the world have picked up on the rumor of Cream playing dates at the Royal Albert Hall in 2005.

Warner Vision International has released "Live Aid: The Greatest Show On Earth," on DVD worldwide. The 4 DVD set features performances, a "prequel" and bonus extras. "Live Aid" was uniquely staged simultaneously on two continents on Saturday 13 July 1985 at London's Wembley and Philadelphia's JFK Stadiums. The unforgettable global event was watched on television by over 1.5 billion people around the world. It led to pledged donations and royalties of over $140 million towards the devastating famine in Africa.

Crossroads Guitar Festival DVD and Broadcast Update

The highly anticipated double DVD from Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival has been delayed until mid-December 2004 in the UK. It was released in the US on 9 November as previously announced. The US tracklist is revised from what was reported. The duet between Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton has been deleted , Steve Vai's contribution has changed and material from Carlos Santana and John Mayer have been reduced from two tracks to one each. However, an additional Eric Clapton track has been added to the second disc ("If I Had Possession of Judgment Day").
