First, it was Eric Clapton: Unplugged on 2LPs pressed on 180g vinyl. Then, it was a Derek And The Dominos 7" single with newly finished vocals by Bobby Whitlock on "Got To Get Better In A Little While" (b/w "Layla"). Now, there’s a third Clapton-related reason to get up early on Record Store Day: a 7" single by John Mayall and Eric Clapton out on Sundazed Records. "Lonely Years" b/w "Bernard Jenkins", which were both recorded in October 1965, are sourced from the original mono masters. Although Mayall’s “Lonely Years” and the Clapton-penned instrumental “Bernard Jenkins” were recorded a few months before John Mayall And The Blues Breakers With Eric Clapton LP, they were released shortly after the album in a limited edition on producer Mike Vernon’s mail-order-only Purdah label. In 2011, the single is again being produced in a limited quantities; just 1,000 copies for Record Store Day.
