Jan Vogler, artistic director of the festival and renowned cellist, invited Eric Clapton to perform at the annual classical music festival. The 2019 festival happens May 16 to June 10. Vogler is known for always inviting musicians from other genres to perform at the festival.
At Eric’s request, the performance will be in a concert hall rather than a large arena. Capacity at the Messe Dresden is about 4,000.
Additionally, from June 6 to 12, the cinema Schauburg Dresden presented the documentary Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars in a one-time series of cinema screenings. Visit schauburg-dresden.de for dates and details.
