Fan Reviews:

Review by Helmut Graeber
First of all there was a wonderful and nice support of the “Low Riders” of Andy Fairweather Low, feat. Dave Bronze, best known of an earlier Clapton band. They played some old standards and the old Amen Corner hit “If paradise is half as nice”, and left with the Freddie King number “Hideaway”.

After a short break came the Eric Clapton Band. I’m a fan of Eric Clapton since I have heard him with the Yardbird, the Bluesbreakers, Cream and his Solo works. I have seen him for about 15 times since 1978 but this was not one of his better concerts. This time he and his band played the whole concert professional, of course, but not inspired. Especially the acoustic set with “Layla” and “Wonderful Tonight” had no balls, I’ve heard them much better before (perhaps he shouldn’t play those songs only to give the people what they want to hear). The more powerful songs went better but, I’m sorry to say that, also there I missed emotion. Maybe there is something going on in the band that doesn’t work well together or they just had a bad day.
The encore started with the rocky “Sunshine of your love” followed by soulful “High time we went”. Both songs featured a young guest on guitar – Kurt Rosenwinkel. When they left the stage Eric had a smile on his face for the first time on that evening.

Hoping for a better next concert, maybe as good as the Band was in 2006, the most powerful and emotional band with (Derek Trucks).

Where’s Eric!
