Fan Reviews:

Review by Tsuzuki Hiroyuki
It’s been 2 years and 9 months since I saw the Eric’s last performance at the Budokan. The 2009 Japan tour was a bit similar to 2006 tour. I didn’t enjoy myself at that tour. Tonight, the band consisted of Eric and Steve Winwood, joined by EC’s group of touring musicians. This project seemed to aim at the virtual reunion of Blind Faith. To be sure, they performed four Blind Faith songs (Had to cry today, Presence of the lord, Well alright, Can’t find my way home). And these tunes didn’t sound much differently from Eric’s other titles in quality.

The reason Blind Faith’s songs lacks the power to represent the spirit of late 60’s is, I feel, they have a little lost their originality. They are unable to create new tastes of music with much innovation. In comparison with Cream or Dominos, Blind Faith doesn’t have much significance for Eric’s career. Consequently the impact of Blind Faith’s songs are inferior to those of Cream or Dominos.

Additionally Steve is not so popular in Japan as other people might expect. His selection of songs isn’t familiar, at least to me.

Eric reunioned Cream in 2005, "virtual" Dominos in 2006. And tonight Blind Faith. It seems he is conscious of getting closer to the end of his career. Is it possible he will innovate in performance on this tour?

The most impressive song, tonight, was ‘Wonderful Tonight’. I heard it in acoustic version for the first time. And most boring was ‘Georgia On My Mind‘. It was a night club, not rock concert.

Where’s Eric!
