It was a great show with shining Chris Stainton and Doyle Bramhall II. Tight, good band all around. The temperature in the arena was very hot and uncomfortable. The concert lasted a full 2 hours, if a little loud. We had great seats even after the venue was changed from the Festwiese (outdoor) to the indoor Leipzig Arena. Highlights for me were Here But I’m Gone (just as good as at Hyde Park’s Hard Rock Calling a few weeks ago), a beautiful rendition of Isn’t A Pity, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad with licks trading between Eric and Doyle, including great solos and a woderful outro, Layla and a blistering Cocaine.

The Band and especially Eric, Doyle and Chris were in very fine form and showed off their talents with Chris blowing everyone away in Before You Accuse Me. Just before that was a very long Little Queen of Spades with ample time for solos from everyone. Wonderful Tonight seemed short and again I could do without this song. It seems a must for a large part of the crowd.
I’m so looking forward to Munich on August 17, 2008 and Zurich on August 20, 2008 – I’m hoping both of these concerts will be just as good!

The concert was held indoors at Leipzig Arena (relocated from Festwiese). Great show and audience. Standout songs were Hoochie Coochie Man, Here But I´m Gone, Isn´t It A Pity, Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad (superb!), Driftin´and Little Queen of Spades.
It was very hot in venue, much like the concert in Iceland. Jakob Dylan and his band opened up, I loved it, he looks so much like the young Bob and he sounds like him quite a bit, too. Unfortunately he did not join Eric for the encore.

A first set of Jakob Dylan, quite lame, but fairly accepted by the really enthusiastic audience. Jakob Dylan was not involved in the encore.

Sparse but brilliant and duetting soloing from the beginning, quite the same as the other concerts in Europe. The (at least for the part before Hyde Park) new "Here But I’m Gone" was really great though the soloing became great only in the middle and last part of the song.
With the concert the musicians’ obvious joy grew, especially the guitar duetting (Motherless Children) but also the rhythm section was involved, with two great solos by Chris Stainton (especially Cocaine). Eric had some difficulties during Nobody Knows You with the guitar, pointing every now and then on the bass string. Motherless Child was a real pleaser to the crowd, though the 12 string became somewhat background with the growing of the song and Doyle’s slide playing!

Sharply after two hours the concert was over. Lee Dickson had the remaining five guitars already suitcased during Layla. Of course it takes quite a distance to the next spot in Gdynia (about 700km) with more than 400 km not being highway. So the roadies will be quite busy. Hopefully, the shorter trip to Berlin (470km, but next day!) will not worsen the mood, the famous park amphitheatre Waldbuehne should do its best also for the audience.
