The show in Hollywood was even better than first night in Tampa. The band seemed much more cohesive this evening. Eric and all were on fire from the get go. Same set with a different encore with Robert Randolph – "I’ve Got My Mojo Working" – what a treat! It was a totally different feel inside an enclosed arena verses open air amphitheater. The acoustics were much better and the light show was much more vibrant enclosed. The band seemed to have a more intense connection with the audience in the smaller venue. Even though I heard almost all of the songs just two nights ago, it was like a completely new and different show.

Chris Stainton’s keyboards on "Layla" brought tears to my eyes which I have never experienced in all of the times I have seen "Layla" performed. Doyle Bramhall II’s guitar solos and vocals were the best I have seen of him live. Eric was, as always, spectacular and moving – loved the Robert Johnson songs. I could not stop dancing!

I went to the Hollywood performance. I really can’t say that I was very happy with Eric Clapton’s show last night. You need to know that this tour is really a Blues show. Other than Layla and Cocaine, he really didn’t play any of what I would consider the favorites of mine until the encore. Just thought concert goers should know what they are paying the big bucks to hear. Most of the people, age old rockers like me, felt the same way…..expecting him at any moment to break out with "I Shot The Sheriff" or "Bell Bottom Blues", "My Fathers Eyes", etc. I’m sure the Clapton’s blues fans were delighted.

Last night in Hollywood confirmed for me that we are back in the 70s. I bought gas for 3.65 (U.S. Dollars) on the way to the show. I got to the arena and I felt transformed to the Filmore, of which I never had a chance to go to as I was born in 1971. The opening band warmed up the crowd and young Robert Randolph showed a smile on his face that said it all, his playing is tremendous.

Clapton arrived on stage and all of us began a trip back in time to the roots of rock and roll. The show encompassed the beginning of Eric’s career, with blues favorites from Derek and the Dominos. The show also felt like a John Mayall show when Eric turned the front man role over to Doyle, who looks like his time spent with Derek Trucks has paid off. The crowd was a little put off by the lack of "hits" being played as confirmed by the ovation once the opening chords of "Wonderful Tonight" was heard. But, I think if you go to these shows with the understanding that you are seeing the "Michelangelo" of guitar rock and roll on stage performing his heart and soul for you, you will not be disappointed.

I saw Eric Clapton in Hollywood, Florida and it was one of the best shows that I have seen in a while. He played for about 2 hours and it was incredible. That man can play the guitar like no other. I saw him years ago and I think he just keeps getting better with age. I loved the fact that it was a blues concert. He did play some of his hits though. The only one that I did miss hearing was Lay Down Sally, but other then that it was an amazing night.

Where’s Eric!
