After having been at the RAH concert on 19 May, sitting very close the stage, I could not miss Eric playing in Stockholm. Having seen all EC concerts but one since 1980 in Stockholm, including the ‘Pros and cons of hitchhiking’ tour with Roger Waters. The RAH concert I must say was outstanding, the best performance I have ever seen and it outperformed the Stockholm concert I must say at once. Nevertheless, Eric and his band gave us a great show with quite a lot changes from the RAH show. After the very great concert by Robert Cray, the evening started with a knock-out start: ‘Pretending’, ‘I shot the Sheriff’ and a ‘Got to get better in a little while’, the latter being one of the highlights of the night and also one of my favourites ever since I bought the D & D "In Concert" album that was released more than 30 years ago! Thanks Eric for playing it!

Being also a great admirer of Robert Cray I was pleased seeing him on stage in ‘Old Love’, which he is a co-writer to, and this time both singing and playing solo in the encore, ‘Crossroads’. ‘Everybody ought to make a change’ was quite different from what I’ve heard before. Much more of a rock and roll-feeling this time and with more tempo. It was followed by a great version of ‘Motherless children’ with superb slide solos from EC, DT and DB.

The acoustic part was as great as could be, all songs being perfectly played. Should I mention anyting it must be Derek Trucks sensitive slide (he’s really fantastic) on ‘I am yours’. It was played with great feeling and ‘Nobody knows you… ‘ really caught the audience. Wow!
The well-known opening of ‘After midnight’ came after as it seemed longer than expected start because of changes of instruments and positions on stage after the acoustic session. Heard something like "wake up" from the stage it seemed as if Eric, a little impatient or eager to play, was telling Steve Jordan to ‘count down’ and ‘start the music’.

Then the masterpiece of the show – ‘Little Queen of Spades’ not only with EC’s superb guitar solo, but also letting most of the band show there skills. Especially the key change with the long sustain notes towards the end, like the ones Eric often makes on Rambling on my mind/Have you ever loved a woman, lifted the solo even more. Then came ‘Further on up the road’ followed by the classic hits ‘Wonderful tonight’, ‘Layla’ and ‘Cocaine’ which fulfilled the great concert evening. The Layla intro of course got the crowd excited and all in the front rows stood up.

Eric did a great show but he did not reach the heights of the RAH concert in May. There he seemed more relaxed and played with even more energy. Maybe the cancellation of the Moscow Red Square concert which was announced the day the Stockholm concert affected him. I pity Eric, since I guess he really looked forward to playing there and I also pity his Russian fans that won’t be able to see him. Finally, the sound mix wasn’t perfect, especially after the acoustic session. But the Globe is a globe with sound problems that can occur in round places (RAH an exception?)

Thanks Eric for touring again and sharing great music experiences. Looking forward to seeing and hearing you soon again. Until then, I go ‘back home’ to my own Stratocaster and plug it in the Marshall amp full of inspiration!

A incredible night to remember !! EC and his band didn’t make anyone disappointed. It was a fantastic show at a very high speed. Nice combination of songs and we had a incredible sound.

I have seen EC six times and this was definatly the best !!

To sad I must say that the newspapers in Sweden have terrible journalist, Expressen must have send someone that still is in the kindergarden !!!

This was my 4th concert with Eric. The other concerts (1998, 2001, 2004) I’ve got so bad sit but this time I got a sit on row nr. 1. That’s the best with the whole show. I sat down there about 2,5 meter from Mr. Eric with a big smile. I was in heaven all the time.

For me there was some new songs that he never peform before in my other concerts. It’s always cool with some new stuffs. The best songs of the whole concert was "Layla". Everyone in the crowd stand up and shout. I think he have choice the best openingsong ever. "Pretending" was the right song to open up the concert. "Cocaine" is always a favourite.

I was little bit suprise that he perform "Got To Get Better In A Little While" who was one of my favourites from the last tour 2004.
Eric is amazing everytime he perform. But I don’t see so much of Doyle Bramhall in this concert but …. DEREK TRUCKS. I will say he stole the whole concert. He was soooo good. There you have the man after Eric. I have heard him before but never live in concert. That man knows who you play slideguitar. So Derek. I hope we will see more of you in Sweden and the rest of Europe.

I have been a faithful EC fan for several years, but this was my first live experience. And oh! It was really amazing to finally see and hear my big source of inspiration! From my seat at the 4th row in Globen, I had one of my best experiences ever in my entire life! I’d just like to say thank you to Mr Clapton himself and all the other bandmembers and all other people that made this tour possible. Keep that Fender warm! And I must agree with Micke Lvov about Expressen!
