EC invited American blues legend Muddy Waters on the tour as the support act. This was the first concert on the November / December leg of Eric’s 1978 Tour.
On this leg of the tour, the band travelled in private rail carriages hired from the Orient Express for the European Leg of the Backless Tour. Filmmaker Rex Pike was given unprecedented access on the tour to film a fly-on-the-wall style documentary. Over 120 rolls of film were shot across Europe and England. Edited to roughly 2 hours, “Eric Clapton And His Rolling Hotel” was shown at a few film festivals, but never released.
In 1999, the arena was re-named Raimundo Saporta Pavilion. It was demolished in 2004.
