The exact city and venue may be lost to history, or the venue may have been moved by the promoter after the initial agreement for the Texas concerts was signed.
Research has not found evidence of a “Community Center Theater / Theatre” in San Antonio circa 1970. Both Marc Roberty’s “Eric Clapton Day By Day: The Early Years 1963-1982” and Christopher Hjort’s “Strange Brew: Eric Clapton & The British Blues Boom” cite it as the venue. Roberty’s book, includes the additional information “(2 shows 8:00pm and 10:00pm, capacity 3,000. Guaranteed fee $17,500 for both Texas shows plus 60% over $35,000).
The other possible location is the Houston Music Theatre or Hall in Houston, based on photos, a newspaper advertisement (which reads Music Theatre) and handbills for two Texas concerts. As a side note, Cream played the Houston Music Hall on 31 March 1968.
