Show Notes:

Jack Bruce’s autobiography and website state the gig was scheduled at “The Factory / Wisconsin State University Fieldhouse” in Madison Wisconsin but was cancelled as the club closed.  “The Factory” was a club in Madison at 315 W. Gorham Street, near the university campus that operated from late 1967 to the spring of 1968. It is documented that Cream were the last band booked to play at The Factory, but it closed and the gig didn’t happen (see here for one example). However, Marc Roberty (in several of his works) and Christian Hjort in “Strange Brew: Eric Clapton & The British Blues Boom” cite the location of the gig as the Wisconsin State University Field House, which is located to this day at 1450 Monroe Street. It is entirely possible the gig was moved to the UW Field House or did not happen. The actual details may be lost to time. WE! has chosen to follow Roberty and Hjort until additional evidence is discovered.
