This evening’s booking at the Staines Rugby Club was independent of the package tour the band was currently on with headliners Billy J Kramer & The Dakotas and promoted as a “Crawdaddy Night.”
Staines Rugby Club is in Hanworth (Middlesex/West London) and not Surrey because they purchased and moved to a 14-acre former gravel pit on Snakey Lane in 1962, as land in Staines was not available and despite the club being founded in Staines in 1926. While Staines is now in Surrey (since 1965), the rugby ground has remained at “The Reeves” in Hanworth.
