One of first Ricky-Ticks was an upstairs room at The Star & Garter, Windsor. The most famous location was at Clewer Mead, Windsor. It was a semi-derelict river-side mansion with 58 rooms where the rent was £16 a week. Shows were promoted there from April 1964. (It was later torn down). Other locations included the Thames Hotel, Windsor, Guildford, Hounslow, High Wycombe, Maidenhead, Slough, Newbury and Reading. Eric Clapton would play at its venues while in The Roosters, The Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers and Cream.
