On this date, the band had a late afternoon performance at Studio ’51 in Leicester Square, Central London.They then travelled to the Crawdaddy Club at the Richmond Athletic Association Grounds in Richmond, Surrey for an evening gig.
The Crawdaddy Club was founded by Giorgio Gomelsky, the first manager of The Rolling Stones and The Yardbirds. He operated two clubs under the name. The first, and better known, was located in Richmond – first at The Station Hotel and later relocated to the Richmond Athletic Association Grounds on Twickenham Road when a larger space was needed. The second Crawdaddy Club was located at The Star Hotel in London Road, Croydon until April 1964. After that date, it was called The Star Club.
