Richmond, Walt

Keyboardist Walt Richmond is a native of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He began playing piano in his mid-teens. Over the course of his career, he has toured and recorded with Rockin’ Jimmy Blyfield, Brothers of the Night, Rick Danko, Bonnie Raitt, and most recently, with J.J. Cale. Eric was introduced to Walt by J.J. and Walt appears on their collaborative CD, Road To Escondido.

Walt was a founding member of the Tulsa-based country-rock band, The Tractors, along with Ron Getman, Steve Ripley, Casey van Beek and Jamie Oldaker*. The Tractors self-titled debut album was released in August 1994. He was the co-writer of their Country Top 40 hit, "Baby Likes To Rock It" with Steve Ripley. Richmond left the band in 1998, along most of the original members. Ripley is the only permanent member of the band at this time.

Walt joined Eric’s touring band for all 2010 dates, including EC’s third Crossroads Guitar Festival on 26 June.

*Oldaker was a member of EC’s band 1974 and 1980 and again from 1983 to 1986. In 1990 and 1991 re-joined Eric’s band for several nights of the annual Royal Albert Hall run.
