Renwick, Tim

 Tim Renwick was born on 7 August 1949 in Cambridge, England. While at school, he learned to play guitar. As a side note, he attended school with Syd Barrett and Roger Waters who would later go on to form Pink Floyd.

Becoming a professional musician in the 60s, Tim played in many bands and recording sessions. The bands included Little Women, Wages of Sin, Junior’s Eyes, The Hype, Quiver (later Sutherland Brothers & Quiver), Al Stewart and Lazy Racer. Notable sessions included David Bowie, Paul Carrack, Mike & The Mechanics, Joe Cocker, Andy Gibb, Kenny Rogers, Dionne Warwick and many many more.

From 1977, Tim has also worked with Procul Harum. In 1980, after playing on sessions for Elton John’s A Single Man, he was invited to play on Elton’s world tour. He then toured with Mike Oldfield in 1982 and Gary Brooker’s band in 1983.

In July 1984, Tim began working with his old schoolmate, Roger Waters, touring in support of The Pros & Cons of Hitch Hiking. This is where Tim met Eric Clapton. In 1985, Tim was invited to join Eric’s band as second guitarist. In 1987, David Gilmour resurrected Pink Floyd and invited Tim to tour with them. He joined them on the road again in 1989, the year in which he also toured with Mike & The Mechanics.

Tim recorded a self-titled solo album in 1980.
