Mason, Dave

 Dave Mason was born in Worcester, England on 10 May 1946. While a member of the group Deep Feeling with Jim Capaldi, they would jam with other Birmingham bands. Through these jams, they met Steve Winwood. Traffic eventually grew from this association.

When Dave left Traffic, he joined Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. Eric Clapton joined Delaney & Bonnie for a brief time. Dave worked on sessions for Eric’s first solo album in 1970 and as a member of the embryonic Derek & The Dominos. He left the band to embark on a solo career, releasing Alone Together and recording an album with “Mama” Cass Elliot. 

Dave spent several years out of the music business and in seclusion. He released a solo album in 1987 and toured through 1993. He joined Fleetwood Mac during 1994 – 1995 and contributed to their CD,Time. In 1998, he toured the U.S. with fellow Traffic founder, Jim Capaldi.

His most recent CD is 26 Letters, 12 Notes was released in October of 2008.
