Lawson, Ricky

 Ricky Lawson began playing drums at age 16.

A noted session musician, he has worked with Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Phil Collins, Michael Jackson, George Benson, The Brothers Johnson, Anita Baker, Whitney Houston, Al Jarreau, Lionel Richie, Steely Dan and others.

Ricky is responsible for launching the career of another Eric Clapton band alumnus, Greg Phillinganes. Ricky played a tape of his music for Stevie Wonder which resulted in Greg’s joining the Wonderlove band. Both men worked together in that outfit in the mid-70s.

Ricky first worked with Eric Clapton on the MTV show, Babyface Unplugged in 1997. He toured with Eric for the American leg of the Pilgrim Tour (March – June 1998).
