Kissoon, Katie

Katie Kissoon was born in Trinidad and began singing at an early age. Her first group was Mac and Katie, which she formed with her brother. A successful vocalist, she has worked with Van Morrison, Roger Waters, Mike & The Mechanics, Annie Lennox, Stevie Wonder, Tina Turner, Chris Rea, Take That, Jamiroquai, Tom Jones, Elton John, and Pete Townshend.

Katie has toured with Roger Waters since his first solo tour in 1984. Eric Clapton also took part in this tour. Andy Fairweather-Low has also been a regular in Roger Water’s band as well as Eric’s.

Katie first worked with Eric on studio sessions for Roger Waters in August 1983. She began a long association with Eric’s touring and recording bands in 1986 — the only exception being the blues tour and album of 1994-1995. Katie took part in the historic George Harrison / Eric Clapton tour of Japan in 1991. Katie sang back-up for Eric at the Crossroads Concert at Madison Square Garden in June 1999. She last toured with him during the 1999 Japan Tour.

Katie was on of the backup singers at “The Concert For George” (a tribute concert in George Harrison’s memory) on 29 November 2002 of which Eric was the musical director.

On 15 January 2004 she sang back-up for Eric and Roger Waters at Tsunami Aid: A Concert of Hope. The men performed an acoustic version of the Pink Floyd Song, “Wish You Were Here.”

Katie can be heard on Eric’s albums August, Journeyman, Unplugged, 24 Nights and Pilgrim
