Jordan, Steve

 Steve Jordan is a native New Yorker and a graduate of the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art. Known primarily as a drummer, he is also a song writer, producer and multi-instrumentalist (bass and guitar).

His first recording session was with Stevie Wonder’s Wonderlove band. At age 18, he landed his first touring gig with Joe Cocker. From there, he became the drummer in the original “Saturday Night Live Band” (a long-running television show originating live from New York City on NBC Television). He then toured wtih The Blues Brothers Band with John Belushi and Dan Akroyd before joining “The World’s Most Dangerous Band” – the original house band for David Letterman’s television show on NBC.

His session work has been with artists as diverse as the Rolling Stones, Neil Young, David Sanborn, James Taylor, Billy Joel, Stevie Nicks, B.B. King, Luther Vandross, Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Sheryl Crow, John Mellencamp and Bruce Springsteen. Most recently, Steve toured and recorded with John Mayer and Pino Palladino as the John Mayer Trio. As a producer, he has worked with the Fabulous Thunderbirds, Robert Cray, Soul Asylum, Aretha Franklin and Patti Scialfa’s most recent solo record, 23rd Street Lullaby.

Steve was on for Eric’s 2006 / 2007 World Tour and also played at the Crossroads Festival in Chicago in 2007. They first worked together on 8 May 1985 when Eric appeared on The Late Show with David Letterman. They both worked on the documentary tribute to Chuck Berry, Hail Hail Rock ‘n Roll which was filmed on 16 October 1986.
