Ferrone, Steve

 Steve Ferrone is a world-renowned drummer. At age 12, his band opened for The Who at Uncle Bunnie’s Chinese Jazz Club. At the time, The Who’s single, “My Generation” had not yet been released.

An integral part of the Average White Band from 1974, Steve is much in demand as a session drummer. He has worked with Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Bee Gees, Peter Frampton, Freddie King, Whitney Houston, Chaka Khan, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller, George Benson, and Duran Duran among others.

During 1985 and 1986, he was the drummer for the house band on Saturday Night Live(NBC-TV, US).

Steve first played with Eric Clapton’s band in 1986 at The Ritz in New York City as a four piece along with Greg Phillinganes and Nathan East. He stayed with the band until 1992. He can be heard on Eric’s recordings Unplugged and 24 Nights.

Steve released a solo album on Drumroll Records in 2003 entitled It Up: Steve Ferrone and Friends Live at La Ve Lee.
