Eric Clapton has been married twice. He has five children and two grandchildren.
Eric Clapton’s first wife was Pattie Boyd Harrison. A successful model in the 1960s, she inspired his classic album from 1970, Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs. Eric fell in love with her even though Pattie was married to his best friend, George Harrison. The Harrisons divorced in the mid-70s. Eric and Pattie married on 27 March 1979 in Tucson, Arizona. They divorced in 1989 and had no children together.
Eric Clapton married his second wife, Melia McEnery, on 1 January 2002. They have three daughters – Julie Rose (b. June 2001), Ella Mae (b. January 2003) and Sophie Belle (b. February 2005).
Eric Clapton’s eldest child is his daughter, Ruth (b. January 1985). Ruth’s mother is Yvonne Kelly, with whom Eric had a relationship with in the mid-1980s. Ruth and her former husband, Dean Bartlett (m. September 2011 / dv. November 2020), have two sons – Isaac Eric Owen (b. June 2013) and Theodore Ivan (b. March 2016).
Eric’s son, Conor Loren, was born 21 August 1986. He died in a tragic accident on 20 March 1991, when he fell from a window of a New York City apartment where his mother, Lory Del Santo, was living. Eric and Lory were never married.
