Here’s your chance to win a copy of Eric Clapton Day By Day: The Early Years 1963-1982 from Where’s Eric! and Backbeat Books. To celebebrate the 50th year of Eric Clapton’s career as one of the most important and influential guitarists of all time, music journalist and Clapton authority Marc Roberty has compiled every day-to-day detail of Clapton’s professional life in music into two heavily illustrated volumes. The first volume, Eric Clapton Day By Day: The Early Years 1963-1982, is available now from book retailers worldwide including Amazon, Waterstones in the UK and Barnes & Noble in the United States.
Based on years of extensive research around the globe and interviews with musicians, film directors, producers, and studio engineers, Roberty covers every detail of Clapton’s live and studio work in this comprehensive work. Volume 1 encompasses Clapton’s early years, offering an insight into how this artist slowly found his own musical identity. Details of every aspect of Clapton’s recordings (released and unreleased), joining and leaving bands, live performances, concert tours and guest appearances are documented. Volume One includes not only every band Clapton played in from The Yardbirds to Delaney & Bonnie, but all his cameos with The Beatles, George Harrison, The Rolling Stones, Jimmy Page, Steven Stills, Leon Russell, Pete Townshend, Howlin’ Wolf, Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Aretha Franklin and many many more. Through his research, Roberty has uncovered previously forgotten gig dates, particularly for The Yardbirds, Bluesbreakers and Cream eras. Making the book even more of a treat for die-hard Clapton fans, the pages are stuffed with photographs, images of band posters, and album art.
The second volume, Eric Clapton Day By Day: The Later Years 1983-2013, will be published by Backbeat Books in October.
