Turn Up For Recovery and Partner Sofar Sounds Announce Secret Show in London on 29 April
Sofar Sounds, a global community of music lovers that transforms everyday spaces into captivating venues for secret, live shows, recently joined forces with the Turn Up For Recovery movement. Today, they announced their second collaboraitve show dedicated to the topic of addiction and recovery. The show happens 29 April at a secret location in London.
Turn Up For Recovery is the grassroots, charitable gig movement born out of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festivals. Founded by Eric’s wife, Melia Clapton, it aims to raise awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackle the stigma of addiction and help make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
“Addiction is a disease which affects millions of people worldwide from all walks of life. It does not discriminate between class, culture or race. Sufferers often feel hopeless and see no way out, however, abstinence based recovery can offer a new way of living,” explains Melia. “We are partnering with Sofar and musicians to raise awareness and offer hope, along with raising funds to provide subsidised places at the Crossroads Centre, a residential 12-step treatment center that offers treatment based on an intensive program of group and individual therapies.”
Sofar and Turn Up for Recovery announced their first collaborative show in late February. The inaugural gig scheduled for 5 March in New York City quickly reached full-capacity. The same is expected with the London show. Details about May gig in Los Angeles will be announced soon.
Sofar’s live shows happen at everyday spaces – from living rooms and rooftops, to boutiques and museums – in hundreds of cities around the world. As with all Sofar shows, location details are sent to ticket holders the day before. A Sofar gig typically features three acts, with no opener or headliner. Each lineup is carefully curated to give audiences a diverse show and artists equal attention.

WHERE: A location in Hackney, London to be revealed the day before the show
