As announced on whereseric.com on 23 October 2009, Eric Clapton has cancelled his performance for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Concert on 30 October to undergo a minor medical procedure for gall stones. The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame has announced that the Jeff Beck Band will perform in Eric’s stead, along with some very special guests at Madison Square Garden this Friday night (30 October).
The dedicated website for the 25th Anniversary Concerts, rockhall25.com, has the following announcement on the show update page:
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE JEFF BECK BAND ALONG WITH SOME SPECIAL GUESTS ARE GOING TO BE TAKING OVER THE SECTION THAT ERIC CLAPTON ORIGINALLY WAS ANCHORING BEFORE HIS UNFORTUNATE HOSPITAL STAY. EVERONE IS WORKING HARD TO MAKE THIS AMAZING AND TO FIT INTO WHAT IS ALREADY GOING TO BE AN GREAT NIGHT WITH ARETHA FRANKLIN, METALLICA AND U2. tHERE WILL BE SOME REAL SPECIAL GUESTS THAT NIGHT SO IT WILL BE TERRIFIC! NO REFUNDS WILL BE GIVEN.
Eric is recuperating at home in the UK. He remains committed to his 2010 concert schedule.
