Eric Clapton Rocks Los Angeles: Night One

Eric Clapton’s 2011 World Tour stopped at the Gibson Amphitheatre at Universal CityWalk for the first of two shows on 8 March. It was another strong performance according to early reports. For the first time this tour, "Tell The Truth," made an appearance in the set list, replacing "Before You Accuse Me." "Old Love," "I Shot The Sheriff" and "Badge" were again stand out numbers. One long-time fan told Where’s Eric, "EC was here in LA tonight, in great voice and exemplary musicianship. He doesn’t rest on his laurels, and continues to master the instrument he’s been the king of for all these decades. His playing is better than ever. His voice is too. We got to hear Tell The Truth tonight, one of my personal favorites. I was worried he wasn’t going to play Badge, because he mixed up the setlist and went into Little Queen of Spades before continuing on to the great and powerful Badge." Another wrote, "he band is the most gifted group of musicians I have seen with eric, the back-up singers were amazing, the sound mix was as good as anything I have heard, when eric was on his game he was the greatest guitarist ever!!! He make is look so easy and he never hits a bad note. So perfect, So good, do not miss this tour."

The first leg of Eric Clapton’s 2011 World Tour wraps tonight at the venue. Also happening today in New York is EC’s third auction to benefit Crossroads Centre Antigua. The sale happens at Bonhams and features guitars, amplifiers as well as gold records and other memorabilia. Where’s Eric! will have full coverage of the auction.
