Eric Clapton is one of a long list of musicians who will take part in an evening celebrating Bert Jansch at the Royal Festival Hall, London on 3 December. They will perform music played, written and inspired by Bert in tribute to his influence on their own music. The show will support the Bert Jansch Foundation.
The genre- and generation-crossing cast now includes: Beverley Martyn, Bonnie Dobson, Donovan, Eric Clapton, Gordon Giltrap, Robert Plant, Roy Harper and last but not least, Wizz Jones. They join previously announced artists, Jacqui McShee, Danny Thompson and Terry Cox from the original Pentangle, Ralph McTell, Martin Simpson, Bernard Butler, Paul Wassif, Martin Carthy and Lisa Knapp.
Bert’s groundbreaking musicianship made a lasting impression on many music legends, including Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Jimmy Page and Paul Simon. Bert was one of the performers at Eric Clapton’s 2010 Crossroads Guitar Festival. His impact even ripples through successive generations of musicians like Bernard Butler, Beth Orton, Fleet Foxes, Devendra Banhart and Pete Doherty
