Keith Richards has revealed that Eric Clapton has a guest spot on the new Rolling Stones record due this fall. The blues-themed disc was recorded in London and helmed by producer Don Was. Keith told Matt Everitt of BBC 6 Music “Eric Clapton dropped by for a couple of numbers and it was like old times down in Richmond.” Early in their careers, both the Stones and the Clapton-era Yardbirds performed at Richmond’s Crawdaddy Club, run by Giorgio Gomelsky.
Ron Wood previously said the band cut covers of blues standards as well as new original material. Keith confirmed this in his chat with Matt, saying the record features “a lot of Little Walter stuff and quite a lot of Howlin’ Wolf but the titles I can’t reveal at the moment. I can’t quite remember them and I haven’t got a list with me (laughs). There’s a lot of Chicago blues.”
