Eric Clapton Featured On Stephen Dale Petit’s “A Better Man”

Eric Clapton is featured on Stephen Dale Petit’s new single, “A Better Man,” available now on all digital platforms. With its evocative lyrics and irresistible hooks, the soul-baring anthem of heartbreak and healing builds toward a coda he composed as a constantly evolving harmonic landscape — one that could support a guitar solo capable of telling its own story.

The guitarist and singer-songwriter says, “I thought, ‘This would be very cool to solo over,’ but my very next thought was that Eric should do it.”

Although the two have been friends for decades, this collaboration marks their first time recording together. They spent two days in the studio working closely to capture the song’s emotional core.

“Eric asked if I had anything specific in mind. I told him that whatever he instinctively felt to play would be perfect. I’d shaped the end section especially for him — I knew he’d feel at home in it,” Stephen Dale explains in the press release announcing the single.

“When he was done he asked what I thought and I said ‘I want to cry.’ I felt that Eric had conjured music from the heavens… it’s magical, intensely moving and extremely powerful.”

The track will also appear on his upcoming seventh album, Be The Love, due in February 2026.
