Following severe weather on Friday in Noblesville, Indiana, things cleared up nicely for Eric Clapton’s outdoor concert at the Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, outside of Cleveland, Ohio on Saturday 31 May 2008. Although the venue was a regular stop on his mid-80s tours, this concert marked his first return to the venue in 18 years.
Over 14,000 persons were gathered on the lawn alone, with several thousands more in the seated area closer to the stage.
Eric opened the 8th show of his summer tour with "Motherless Children" and "Key To The Highway." The set list mirrored that of the Canadian concerts earlier in the week. "Double Trouble" was the stand out song of the night.
Robert Randolph – whose band is opening the show for this leg of the tour – joined Eric on stage for the final encore, "I’ve Got My Mojo Working."
Randolph’s next CD is due in September and is being produced by T-Bone Burnett. Some tracks are already being played during his opening set for Eric Clapton: "I’m Not Listening" and "I Still Belong." In an interview this week with Billboard, Randolph revealed, "[Clapton] told me he’s going back in the studio at the end of this year and he said he wants me to come in when he starts recording his record."
