On the hottest day ever in the UK (since records began) the Eric Clapton XI were closely beaten by the Alec Stewart Bunbury Team on Sunday 10 August 2003 at Ripley Court School in Surrey. In a star-studded event, Eric turned in his best performance ever on the cricket field, demonstrating some delightful runs and solos (singles) in his score of 13. His favoured instrument was a rare, stringless Fender Batocaster made of the finest willow.
Cricket afficionados may be interested in the full set-list for the afternoon (reproduced on this page) and for those visitors to this site who do not understand cricket, please do not ask us to explain the rules, because we don’t understand them either!
