Andy Fairweather Low: Streaming Live From The Hideaway 9 September

Take a trip through the unique career of  Andy Fairweather Low with this special live streamed show on 9 September (8:00pm GMT)

Like pretty much everyone, Andy Fairweather Low is fed up with the lockdown and misses playing gigs. On 9 September at 8:00pm GMT, Andy and his big band will play a live one hour set from The Hideaway club in London. The virtual event will be available world-wide.

Andy first rose to prominence in the 1960’s as the front man for chart topping teen idol band Amen Corner. They scored 6 memorable hits between 1967 and 1969 with “(If Paradise is) Half As Nice” reaching Number 1 in January 1969. When the group split later that year, Andy formed Fair Weather. For an underground progressive band, it was somewhat surprising that they soon had a Top 10 single in 1970 with “Natural Sinner.”

Andy then forged a successful solo career with albums like ‘Spider Jiving’ and ‘La Booga Rooga’ with hits like “Reggae Tune” and “WIde-Eyed and Legless.”

By the late seventies, Andy was also an in demand session player for artists like The Who, Pete Townshend, George Harrison, Roy Wood, Elton John, Leo Sayer, Albion Band, David Gilmour, Gerry Rafferty, Helen Watson and Richard and Linda Thompson, to name but a few.

In the early nineties, he joined Eric Clapton’s band with which he stayed until 2003 touring and recording  Eric’s ‘Unplugged’, ‘From the Cradle’, ‘Pilgrim’, ‘Riding with the King’, ‘Reptile’, ‘One More Car One More Rider’, ‘Me & Mr. Johnson’ and ‘Back Home’ albums.

Since 1985, Andy has also worked extensively with Roger Waters starting with the ‘Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking’ tour of America. He also contributed to ‘Radio K.A.O.S’ and ‘Amused to Death’  and played guitar and bass on the 1999-2002 ‘In the Flesh’ world tour. More recently, he rejoined Roger for the ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ tour.

In 2006, Andy returned to the studio with his band, The Low Riders. Later that year, ‘Sweet Soulful Music’ was released. It was followed by a ‘Best of,’ compilation, ‘Zone-O-Tone’ and ‘Live From The New Theatre, Cardiff.’

Andy’s “Fed Up With This Lockdown” gig will be streamed live from The Hideaway club, London from 8:00pm GMT on 9 September. Available worldwide, the details can be found on Andy Fairweather Low’s official website / latest news.
