The band was incredibly busy at this time and management was booking gigs with little time off. A few hours before, the band played two 45 minute sets between 8pm and 11pm at Sheffield University. Immediately after, they drove to Manchester (62 km /39 miles) for this all night gig, with two 30 minute sets between 2am-4am. They would also have a gig later this day from 7pm to 10:30pm in Coventry (173 km / 108 miles from Manchester).
