Pre-recording date for 29 June TV broadcast on Television West and Wales (ITV franchise holder).

The Bristol-based show was not networked throughout the UK. In addition to Wales and the West, it was shown in Tyne-Tees and Anglia and possibly other regions. Hosted by Kent Walton, the 30 minute show was broadcast on Mondays. Artists lip-synched to their songs.

From TV Pop Diaries: Produced by Chris Mercer, hosted by Kent Walton and recorded first at the Cardiff studios of TWW, then moving to their Bristol studio, Discs A Go Go seems to have been one of the great lost pop TV shows of the sixties. The studio was made to look like a coffee bar ‘Gogos, the gayest coffee bar in town’ where acts would come to play, while the presenters including Tony Prince and one of Britain’s first black presenters Cynthia ? While records where the artist wouldn’t / couldn’t appear would be visually represented by a series of cartoon stills featuring the show’s mascot Foxy the Fox drawn by cartoonist Harry Hargreaves. The music seemed to come from a the bar’s juke box, while every week a smoochy song would be played while the camera showed close ups of embarrassed couples. The regular dance troupe were The Go Jos who would later appear on Top Of The Pops. According to the producer’s liner notes from an accompanying Decca EP the show had up to nine million viewers by 1963.
