I agree completely with TE (click here to read the WE! News Article). Don’t be put off by the setlist. This show is SOLID. Key to the Highway, Hoochie Coochie Man, Before You Accuse Me and Further On Up The Road are really strong. EC’s playing these days is both artful and aggressive. In Bangkok, the clear favorite song of the night was … Wonderful Tonight, which was played well with a little extra flourish. I quite enjoyed the newer material, especially Same Old Blues. If that wasn’t the best EC solo ever on Old Love I certainly can’t think of a better one. The band has a nice full sound with the two keyboards, and when you hear a guitar, it’s Eric! The only drawback to one guitar is "karaoke" Layla, alleviated somewhat by the Gibson. There are currently seven songs in the sit down set and for the Bangkok crowd that was a little bit too much mellow. But Badge brought them right back into it. Best solo EC show I’ve seen since the Doyle and Derek days (2006 / 2007).

Eric sing and played guitar is very powerful. His guitar sound is still fresh and vibrant. It made me sit eerie to hear in many songs. I heard of him thanks to dozens of time. Moreover, I feel satisfied with his blues show. I like the blues.He used Sunburst Gibson 335, Fender Stratocaster (Blue & White), Acoustic Guitar and another guitar which I cannot identify. The sound of Chris Stainton is wonderful. I feel enjoy when heard sound of Tim Carmon. Steve Gadd and Willie Weeks were the rhythm of a good and tireless. Michelle John and Sharon White were the charm of music.

There was concern in some quarters as the Deftones had cancelled their Bangkok concert the previous night due to ‘power issues’. But no energy shortage in the Impact Arena as Eric brought his five piece band plus two backup singers into the City of Angels on the 16th of February. This was a much different sound than the three guitar attack he had on his last tour through Asia a couple of years ago. Highlight was EC’s soaring, lyrical solo on ‘Old Love’ which also featured a great turn by Tim Carmon on for want of a better description, "wah wah keyboards". Also terrific a very original take on the Muddy Water’s Classic, "Hoochie Coochie Man".

Clapton is not the sort to engage the crowd with a lot of stage banter or attempt a wai (Thai greeting), but he neverthelss had this crowd eating out of his hand, especially on classic numbers like "I Shot the Sheriff" and "Wonderful Tonight". But truth be told, he’s played some of these riffs so many times he could nail them in his sleep. What was more interesting was the ‘sit down’ session with Eric playing his Gibson archtop. The Hoagy Carmichael standard "Old Rockin’ Chair" and "When Somebody Thinks You’re Wonderful" show just how much Clapton has moved beyond rock guitar icon (as did his inclusion of "Autmn Leaves" on his last album). But, just to prove that he is in fact not "chained to his old rockin’ chair", Clapton again picked up his Stratocaster for the remainder of the show, ending the set with a powerful "Cocaine" which had people dancing in the aisles (well, at lest until security stopped them). The encore was "Further On Up the Road’ and Bangkok fans no doubt hope that’s where they’ll see Eric again.
