Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood shared the stage Saturday night (27 June 2009) at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their 14-date U.S. tour is in its final stages, with only two shows remaining in California (29 June in Oakland and 30 June at the Hollywood Bowl).
The set list deviated slightly from the previous concert in Glendale, Arizona on 26 June. Steve Winwood continues to tweak "his" songs; "Low Spark of High Heeled Boys" was back as Steve’s solo number and "There’s A River" was performed for the third night in a row.
One fan emailed Where’s Eric! from their iPhone, "Clapton and Winwood were great in Vegas. But no one is saying enough about the band. The back-up vocalists are superb, what a set of pipes those beautiful ladies have. Abe Laboriel Jr? BEST drummer EC has had on the road with him in decades. Add legendary sidemen like Chris Stainton and Willie Weeks and you have a recipe for perfection!" Another quick email after the show said, "EC and Stevie Winwood are in their prime – age is a number. Best songs were Low Spark, Tough Luck – killer solo by EC, Voodoo Chile and Dear Mr. Fantasy. Can’t believe I heard the entire first side of Blind Faith LIVE! Coolness." And the succinct, "After the show, I wanted to spray paint Clapton is God on the wall of the MGM Grand."
