Episode 4 Features Performances from Sonny Landreth, Paul Carrack and Maro

Turn up for Recovery is a charitable movement raising awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackling the stigma of addiction and helping make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Founded by Melia Clapton, she announced the movement during Eric Clapton’s 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival. The Turn Up From Home concert series is the organization’s newest initiative and was launched in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic.

On Saturday 6 June at PDT 11:00am, EDT 2:00pm and BST 7:00pm, Episode 4 of Turn Up From Home will debut on TUFR’s YouTube Channel. The episode features Sonny Landreth, Paul Carrack and newcomer to the music scene, Maro.

ABOUT THE MUSICIANS IN TURN UP FROM HOME EPISODE 4:

SONNY LANDRETH has appeared at all of the Crossroads Guitar Festivals. Eric Clapton has said that, “Sonny Landreth is probably the most underestimated musician on the planet, and also probably one of the most advanced.” Known as the “King of the Slydeco,” Sonny’s body of work has captured the influences he grew up with in South Louisiana, including blues, New Orleans R&B, and jazz. He released his new studio album ‘Blacktop Run’ on 21st February. It follows his previous Grammy-nominated album ‘Recorded Live In Lafayette’ (2017) and his back-to-back Blues Music Awards for Best Guitarist and Best Blues Album for ‘Bound by the Blues’ (2015). He is looking forward to playing the new material on ‘Blacktop Run’ live. “It’s all about telling the story,” Landreth says, “as long as I can find my way up that path, I’m all in.” Learn more about Sonny here.

PAUL CARRACK has been called a “national treasure” and “the man with the golden voice” by the BBC, he’s enjoyed chart success as a solo performer and with the bands Ace, Squeeze, Roxy Music and Mike + The Mechanics. Paul sang some of these bands’ best-known hits, including Ace’s “How Long”; Squeeze’s “Tempted”; and Mike + The Mechanics’ “Silent Running (On Dangerous Ground)”, “The Living Years” and “Over My Shoulder” and achieved a major solo hit with “Don’t Shed a Tear”. His songs have been recorded by artists such as Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, Diana Ross, Tom Jones, Michael McDonald and Jools Holland and he has served as a session and/or touring musician for Elton John, Ringo Starr, B.B. King, The Pretenders, The Smiths and Madness. Since 2013, Paul has been a part of Eric Clapton’s band and appeared at both the 2013 and 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festivals. Learn more about Paul here.

MARO hails from Lisbon, Portugal and is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. She started studying classic piano at the age of 4, wrote her first song at 11 and at 12, started playing the guitar as an autodidact. Later, her voice and the electric bass also became important in her musical activity. In 2018, Maro released six self-written and produced artist projects. She was invited to join two-time Grammy winning Jacob Collier’s debut touring band as a featured vocalist and instrumentalist during 2019. In response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, the 23 year-old started a song cycle titled “Calling” where she reaches out to other musicians to perform with her. The music created during their “call” is shared as a split-screen video on YouTube. Maro’s most recent “calling” features someone she has admired her entire life – Eric Clapton. Their performance of “Tears In Heaven” already has almost 90,000 views on YouTube. Newly signed to the legendary Quincy Jones’ management roster, she has proven to be not only a true musician, but one who also understands that good music cannot be confined to a specific genre. With influences from Elis Regina to Esperanza Spalding to Rajery to Justin Bieber, Maro sings and writes just about any style of music.  Learn more about Maro here.
