Saturday, April 21st marks the 11th Anniversary of Record Store Day. For the occasion, Warner Brothers Records will release two limited-edition Eric Clapton exclusives on black vinyl.
Record Store Day was conceived in 2007 at a gathering of independent record store owners and employees as a way to celebrate and spread the word about the unique culture surrounding independently owned record stores. The first Record Store Day took place on April 19, 2008. Except for Antartica, there are participating stores on every continent. Since inception, special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day.
The two Eric Clapton 2018 Record Store Day Exclusives are:
Eric Clapton: Complete Clapton – 4 black vinyl LP’s + Bonus 7” single Box Set. Limited to 3,000 copies.
Originally released as a companion to Eric’s 2007 autobiography, Clapton, this 4-LP album chronicles the artist’s career in Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominos, as well as his solo studio and live releases. The 2018 Record Store Day edition contains a bonus exclusive 45 RPM single of “The Shape You’re In” b/w “See What Love Can Do.”
Eric Clapton: Rush – black vinyl LP. Limited to 3,000 copies.
The U.S. vinyl debut of the soundtrack album for the 1991 film. Written and performed by Eric Clapton, this album contains the original version of “Tears In Heaven.”
Side A: New Recruit, Tracks and Lines, Realization, Kristen and Jim, Preludin Fugue, Cold Turkey, Will Gaines
Side B: Help Me Up, Won’t Know Which Way To Go, Tears In Heaven
