Eric Clapton Interview In San Diego Union-Tribune

Days prior to the release of “The Breeze (An Appreciation of JJ Cale)” in the U.K. and U.S., Eric Clapton spoke by phone from London to The San Diego Union-Tribune’s George Varga. In the lengthy interview, Clapton discusses bonding with Cale at Albert Lee’s home around 1980, the idea for “The Breeze” germinating on a flight from London to Los Angeles on his way to Cale’s memorial service, and the guitarist’s memories of recording “The Road To Escondido” with Cale in 2006. Also interviewed are Cale’s widow and steel guitarist / vocalist, Christine Lakeland, Nathan East (who plays on the album), and guitar maker Danny Ferrington. Click here to read the interview.
