Eric Clapton: Tokyo Budokan Night 5

Fans from all over Japan (and the world for that matter!) have converged on Tokyo to catch Eric Clapton and His Band in action at the Budokan. Now past the mid-point of the 7 night concert series, EC and the band performed an 18 song set list on 25 February 2009. Adult contemporary radio favorite "Wonderful Tonight" is still in the set list to the chagrin of the Japanese fans. However, the excellent versions of "I Shot The Sheriff" and "Little Queen of Spades," more than made up for it according to early reports!

Another fan has checked in and said that their personal highlights also included EC’s solo acoustic number, "Driftin’," "Travelin’ Alone," Isn’t It A Pity," "Motherless Child," and the ending songs of "Layla" and "Cocaine." They also reported that EC’s solos were excellent throughtout the show.

Since EC has been back at the Budokan, "Layla" has been plugged back in (the "unplugged" acoustic version was played at the two concerts with Jeff Beck last weekend). There were slight modifications to this evening’s set list – "Isn’t It A Pity" is back and "Everything’s Gonna Be Alright" made its first appearance since night one of the tour in Osaka.

This show was filmed by WOWOW Television for broadcast within Japan on 15 March 2009.
