Proceeds From Alan Darby’s New CD To Benefit TUFR

Special Charity Pre-Release from Turn Up For Recovery Ambassador Alan Darby
Turn Up For Recovery (TUFR) was born out of Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. The grassroots effort, founded by Melia Clapton, aims to raise awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackle the stigma of addiction and help make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction.
Alan Darby, one of the UK’s most sought-after guitarists, has donated the full proceeds of his new album, Rolling Man, to TUFR when purchased at turnupforrecovery.org/alandarby.
A graduate of Edinburgh University and the Berklee School Of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, Alan has written music for advertisements, television and film, worked as a musical director for UK TV shows all alongside his career as a songwriter, solo artist and band leader. Alan has also toured with a long list of musicians including Van Morrison, Robert Palmer, Asia, Alannah Myles, Bonnie Tyler, and Neneh Cherry and was Lulu’s musical director.
Eric Clapton fans will remember Alan from the Pilgrim World Tour, a number of Eric’s small gigs plus Alan’s own showstopping performance with Bonnie Raitt and Keb Mo’ at the 2019 Crossroads Guitar Festival.
Alan has supported the work of Turn Up For Recovery from the start by becoming a TUFR Ambassador. He then performed at TUFR’s very first UK gig at the Half Moon in Putney in January 2020. Now, he’s thrilled to help again by donating 200 copies of his new album, Rolling Man, to TUFR. Full proceeds from the sale of the CD via turnupforrecovery.org/alandarby will help continue TUFR’s work in addiction recovery.
The 10 tracks on Rolling Man also feature phenomenal guest musicians including Ringo Starr, Lulu, Bonnie Raitt, Peter Frampton, Paul Carrack and Paul Jones.

Turn up for Recovery is a charitable movement aiming to raise awareness of abstinence-based recovery, tackle the stigma of addiction and help make treatment affordable to people struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. The idea for Turn up for Recovery (TUFR) came to founder, Melia Clapton, while walking her dog. She wanted to tackle the stigma around addiction and alcoholism and raise awareness about the power of abstinence based recovery. It’s a topic very close to her heart, having supported family members throughout their recovery. Her vision is for an inclusive community of artists, music lovers and those affected by addiction coming together to have a good time, talk about recovery and raise money for others to get the help that they need at Crossroads Centre Antigua. Melia announced the movement in September 2019 during Eric Clapton’s Crossroads Guitar Festival. It has been gaining momentum ever since.
