Clapton & Winwood: Tokyo Nights 3 and 4

After a 2 day break, Eric Clapton and Steve Winwood returned to Tokyo’s Budokan on 6 and 7 December for the third and fourth concerts of their 5 date residency. On the 6th, Eric dedicated "Low Down" to blues legend Hubert Sumlin who had died the previous day in the United States. Fans have reported that the shows were excellent. As the tour nears its end, some songs are emerging as nightly highlights: Presence Of The Lord, While You See A Chance, Crossroads, Georgia On My Mind, the acoustic Driftin’, Gimme Some Lovin’, Voodoo Chile and Dear Mr. Fantasy. The final concert of the Clapton & Winwood Japan tour (and the final night of the Tokyo residency) takes place on 10 December.

• Eric was smiling alot especially when he seemed to like how the other musicians played their parts of a song – like Chris Stainton’s solo in "Well Alright" or how Steve Gadd and Willie Weeks started Gimme Some Lovin.

• While You See A Chance had a wonderful outro by EC and Steve. Gimme Some Lovin’ was high energy and EC bopped along to the rhythm. Voodoo Chile was simply on fire.

• Only way to describe the show is "EXCELLENT"! So many highlights, really liked Pearly Queen but Voodoo Chile was my favorite. Wonderful Tonight has been rearranged as an acoustic song. Sad there’s only 1 show left!
  

• Another outstanding show. EC, SW and band seem to go from strength to strength. After Midnight launched straight into Presence of the Lord, which had GREAT wah-wah; Glad with an excellent solo by EC; Well Alright with great piano work from SW; Pearly Queen; Crossroads; Driftin’ with really, really fantastic acoustic guitar work by EC; Gimme Some Lovin’ (especially as Steve Gadd and Willie Weeks start before everybody else is ready) and Voodoo Chile.
