C.F. Martin & Company, headquarted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania (U.S.) has been producing acoustic guitars since 1833. Since 1995, the company has issued several different Eric Clapton Signature Models. The majority have been limited editions. Martin has announced its seventh limited edition guitar honoring Eric Clapton, the 000-42ECJ Madagascar. Unlike previous limited editions that were available worldwide, this guitar will be available only in Japan. Only 100 instruments were built in the production run. The top is Adirondack Spruce, with back and sides of Madagascar Rosewood. Like all previous limited editions, the interior label is signed by Eric Clapton. Additionally, buyers in Japan will receive a guitar case with special embroidery, an EC Tour Jacket, a wood memorial plaque, and a Martin porter. The manufacturer’s suggested retail price for this fine instrument is ¥1,050,000. (For informational purposes, as the guitar is not available outside Japan, the cost is approximately £7,736.33 or €8,728.35 or U.S.$12,926.25).
