29 Jun 10
For the first time in 25 years, Eric Clapton headlined at Milwaukee’s Summerfest. In front of a lively crowd at America’s largest music festival, and following the magnificent Steve Winwood collaboration and the Crossroads Guitar Festival, Eric and band were in good spirits and delivered a solid performance. Key songs were Sheriff, driven by the tight Gadd/Weeks rhythm section, a beautiful Rock n roll Heart, with strong crowd vocals, which is fast maturing into a long lost favourite and the evergreen Little Queen of Spades where all the lead players get to show their hand.
Eric’s band was Willie Weeks (bass), Steve Gadd (drums), Chris Stainton (keyboards), Walt Richmond (keyboards), Michelle John (backing vocals) and Sharon White (backing vocals).
